«The electoral schedule is underway, and today, Saturday, April 12, 2025, we are receiving, as we are doing, the political organizations that will be completing the nomination process for candidates who will participate in the elections for the National Assembly, Governors, and Legislative Councils of the states, to be held next Sunday, May 25, 2025,» stated Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
He explained that the People’s Power will have 569 posts up for election: 285 deputies to the National Assembly, 24 governors, and 260 legislators: «Therefore, on May 25, the Venezuelan people will reaffirm their commitment to democracy and peace by freely and sovereignly electing all representatives to office,» he stated.
He also indicated that the nomination process is being carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 59 of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes, which states that nominations will be made in accordance with the requirements established by the National Electoral Council in the respective regulations.
He stated that «the Electoral Branch is the body empowered by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to organize, administer, direct, and oversee all acts related to the election of popular representative offices in the public branches, as well as referendums, as provided in Article 293, paragraph five.»
He invited the Venezuelan people to participate in all electoral processes to be held this year, especially on Sunday, April 27, in the second Popular Consultation.
This process, carried out according to the electoral schedule, reaffirms the political organizations’ commitment to democracy and the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
