This Tuesday, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, asserted that the actions being taken by the United States against Venezuelan migrants represent a turning point in the global discussion on the issue of human rights, since «the international right-wing intends to apply the practice of lawfare in the country.»
Along the same lines, the Venezuelan prosecutor has denounced this as part of an unconventional war, which encompasses a set of exercises: the use of mercenaries, cognitive warfare, military coups, the use of media to persuade young people, and judicial warfare (lawfare), which in Latin America has succeeded in overthrowing governments such as that of José Manuel Zelaya in Honduras, Fernando Lugo in Paraguay, and Dilma Rousseff in Brazil:
«These maneuvers have been used maliciously against Venezuela, because they have used the issue of human rights as part of their strategy,» stressed Prosecutor Saab.
During the «Maduro Live de Repente” (Maduro Suddenly Live) program, hosted by President Nicolás Maduro, Saab explained that this act against Venezuelans expressly violates Article 7 of the Rome Statute, as they are carrying out forced deportations, arbitrary and illegal detentions, and enforced disappearances.
As part of the solutions the Venezuelan government is seeking to safeguard the lives of Venezuelan migrants and return them to their homeland, Saab reported that he held a conversation with Gianluca Rampolla, Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in Venezuela, to consider each of the cases of these Venezuelan compatriots.
In this regard, Saab described this dialogue with the UN representative as a great political, ethical, and moral victory, because El Salvador is violating the Rome Statute.
«We are raising our voices!» exclaimed the Attorney General of the Republic
