The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, inaugurated the 48th National Fair of Zebu Cattle and its crossbreeds in Simón Bolívar Park, in La Carlota. The event will feature representatives of this strategic sector and will run until Sunday, March 23.
The Fair, which the head of state has described as «the arrival of the plains,» on a day like today, March 19, will showcase what livestock producers (both beef and dairy) are doing throughout the country, in addition to highlighting the efforts being made for genetic improvement, an important factor in the development of production on a national scale, with a view to export.
One of this year’s unique features is that the National Fair enjoys a previously unseen reception among commercial exhibitors, thus shaping up to be a resounding success.
This 48th edition will also feature new livestock exhibitors, as well as agro-industrial representatives, who will offer their services to all those involved in agricultural activities.
Additionally, culinary experts, new ventures in gastronomy and music will be on display at this fair, from Wednesday through next Sunday, for the general public.
Bringing the countryside to the cities:
With the goal of bringing the countryside to the cities, this livestock fair also aims to generate commercial exchange after the exhibition is opened. This event will begin on Thursday, when the competitions for the different breeds on display begin, and will continue with various events related to the fair on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Regarding this fair, the national leader stated that it represents a major advance in all areas and fronts of work, in which «the plains come to the city»; and for the second time, «the Venezuelan Livestock Expofair returns,» referring to its holding in Simón Bolívar Park, located in La Carlota (Caracas).
«This is a true celebration, because it has open spaces, the acoustic shell Amphitheater for the performances of singers from the Venezuelan plains (…), because if anything characterizes the deep roots that led us to freedom, it is the Venezuelan plains,» he expressed.
Working for exports:
Recently, regarding this event, the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio César León Heredia, emphasized that work continues in the strategic area, framed within the «T» of Transformation and Production, and aimed at exports.
He indicated that, as part of the strategic goals, five specimens of the Zebu breed cattle will be included in this 48th Asocebú exhibition, in order to showcase Venezuela’s excellent genetics:
«What we will see at this Expofair is the best on the continent. Venezuela is among the top three with this genetics, a result of this effort and the Economic Development and Recovery Plan promoted by the President [Maduro] since 2018,» emphasized Minister León Heredia.
He did not hesitate to point out that with this genetics, producers have the capacity to export Venezuelan genetics to the entire world, taking into account the qualitative element, that is, genetic improvement for better meat and milk yields.
The representative of the National Association of Cattle Ranchers and Breeders (Asocebú), Alonzo Márquez, recently stated that this year his association brings together 450 producers, spread across almost every state in the country.
He explained that the fair will offer competitions for all five zebu cattle breeds, and approximately 830 animals of different beef and dairy breeds will participate, with 50 producers from sixteen states across the country.
This confirms the significant support the Bolivarian Government is providing to the sector. The country is currently experiencing significant growth in export capacity, being the zebu (king of the tropics) of a high quality.
Along these lines, rancher Jesús Malaspina highlighted the significant growth in the sector, while emphasizing that this year there are five new breeders who have boosted the purchase of genetics and are investing:
«We have very important genetics to export,» the producer from the area stated.
