Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism on the border with Colombia

During his “Con Maduro+” program, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the work of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the police forces in the defense of Venezuelan sovereignty:

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the police forces, together with the entire Bolivarian National Militia, are permanently deployed on all borders on the Venezuelan side”, he said; and stressed that surveillance “is carried out twenty-four hours a day, every day”.

The President also emphasized the fight “against criminal groups, against armed terrorists from Colombia, the Tancol“, and against those who intend to do harm.

In this regard, he mentioned that the operation carried out in Apure state, in which a clandestine airstrip was neutralized, is part of the efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating from Colombia:

It is one of the many planes and airstrips that we are permanently pursuing for drug trafficking, which comes to us permanently from Colombia”, he indicated.

President Maduro recalled that Venezuela has more than 2,200 kilometers of border with Colombia, and assured that the country “is immersed in a serious battle that is not new”, and stressed that this effort began during the mandate of Commander Hugo Chavez.

What we have done is specialize it and also with the necessary equipment”, he added.

Likewise, the President called for “increasing the technique, the technology, the equipment, so that the fight against these terrorist groups, armed drug traffickers, criminals, is total”. He also said that his goal is “to make the entire territory of the Venezuelan border with Colombia a territory free of paramilitaries, armed groups, drug traffickers and clandestine airstrips.»
