Budget Bill for the Economic and Financial Year 2025 was approved in first discussion by a qualified majority

The deputies of the National Assembly (AN) approved by a qualified majority in the first discussion the Budget Bill for the Economic and Financial Year 2025, and it is sent to the Permanent Commission of Economy, Finance and National Development, for the purpose of preparing the corresponding report for its second discussion, as reported the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.

Likewise, the first authority of the AN highlighted that the approval of the first discussion of the Budget Bill for the Economic and Financial Year 2025, is in accordance with the provisions of article 104 of the Internal Regulations and Debates of the Legislative Branch.

The project was presented by the president of the aforementioned commission, Jesús Faría, who explained that “this will be a budget of the People’s Power, and it begins a new cycle in the political, social and economic life of our country. The cycle of suffering as a result of the blockade has closed; now a new cycle of development, deployment and well-being opens.”

He added that it coincides with the beginning of the new period of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who will have this instrument to keep the flag of socialism at the forefront of the country: “We must emphasize that the deepest root of this budget is the Homeland Plan, a plan of transition to socialism, the sowing of well-being, the deployment of the development of productive forces and social justice.”

He added that the 2025 Budget is part of the resistance, the victory of the Venezuelan people against imperialism, as well as fascism. “First; This budget will be the consolidation of the productive recovery of the country, and second, it will be the strengthening of the protection system, the well-being of our people from the wealth that will continue to be generated.”

For his part, the parliamentarian representing the opposition bench, Luis Eduardo Martínez, said that the democratic opposition rejects the use of violence in political affairs and strongly repudiates foreign sanctions: “The income and expenditure budget of the Republic for the year for which we will vote favorably will be a fundamental tool for economic achievements and a better future for Venezuela.”
