Elections for Justices of the Peace proposed for Sunday, December 15

During a live broadcast of the «Con Maduro De Repente» (Suddenly With Maduro) program, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, proposed the holding of elections for Justices of the Peace on December 15, within the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Venezuelan Magna Carta. He said that based on this approach, he expects proposals in the next 72 hours:

«I would like to have a proposal in 72 hours. Yes, a proposal to elect on December 15, and celebrate the 25 years of the constitution with a popular grassroots election. the first collegiate justices of the peace at the popular base, in the communal circuits,» he said.

The president called on all public powers to join in this effort:

I call on all Public Powers, the Citizen Power, the Judicial Power, the Electoral Power, the Legislative Power and we go forward with our drive as a Revolutionary Government to join the five powers to go to this historic moment”.

In addition, he emphasized that this initiative “represents the direct democracy, true democracy, it is our democracy”.

For his part, the Sectoral Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, supported the proposal of President Nicolas Maduro, and suggested that the new generations in the communes could play a crucial role in this process:

I believe that the game can increase. You instructed that we install in the next few days the teams of the great missions of new generations in the 5,000 communes and communal circuits”, indicated Rodríguez.

He also proposed that these teams promote and discuss the new law before December 15, stating that “it would be a great gift to the quarter century that the Bolivarian constitution completes”.

Rodríguez added that this new system “will allow judging and monitoring behavior in the specific territory,» thus contributing to the transformation of the justice system in the country and strengthening citizen coexistence.
