Vice President Menéndez: “Venezuela assumes an agenda for development”

The Bolivarian Government, through the Ministry of People’s Power for Planning, held a meeting with representatives of the United Nations System in Venezuela, to discuss the efficiency, monitoring and optimization of the management of institutions in the country.

The Sectoral Vice President and Minister of People’s Power of Planning, Ricardo Menéndez, indicated that Venezuela is capable of generating transparency in the collection of data: “Here we assume an agenda linked to development, to the strengthening of our productive capacities, to issues related to health, education, housing. With the idea of ​​complying with the points of the Homeland Plan”.

He stressed that we must guarantee the rights of our people: “The Sustainable Development Goals in directives of public policies are of an exemplary nature, in the System of United Nations that is the priority, the well-being of all citizens.”

During this meeting also participated the Vice President for Socialism in the Social and Territorial area and Minister of People’s Power for Education, Eduardo Piñate; the Vice Minister for Multilateral Issues, Daniela Rodríguez; as well as the vice ministers for the Planning area, directors and general directors of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Ministry of People’s Power for Planning.

The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Venezuela, Jan Harsft, pointed out that there is much work to be done with regard to accessing those resources that feed the economy and dynamics within Venezuela. The idea is to accompany them so that the points in the Sustainable Development Goals are met.

“At the end of the year, it will be monitored if these objectives were met, if the authorities were willing, if the cooperation was reciprocal and what was needed to reach the points discussed in these meetings,” said Harsft.
