The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, receives the credential letters of Monsignor Alberto Ortega Martín, representative of the Apostolic Nuncio to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in an event held in the Sol del Perú hall of Miraflores Palace.
Monsignor Ortega was born in Madrid, Spain, on November 14, 1962, and was ordained a priest on April 28, 1990, for the Archdiocese of Madrid.
He obtained a Doctorate in Canon Law and entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 1997.
During his diplomatic journey, he has served in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Nicaragua, South Africa, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, as reports the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference on its @CEVmedios account on the Instagram social network.
Under the principles of Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace and in the context of the development of diplomatic relations with the Holy See, the first combatant Woman and deputy to the National Assembly, Cilia Flores de Maduro, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil Pinto, and the Vice Minister for Europe, Coromoto Godoy, were present on behalf of the Venezuelan delegation.
In this way, relations between the Catholic Church and the Venezuelan State continue to be strengthened, since the appointment of the Apostolic Ambassador was made by Pope Francis.
Monsignor Alberto Ortega Martín has been in Venezuela since July 3, arriving from Chile.
During the ceremony held in Miraflores, the head of State gave Monsignor Alberto Ortega Martín a painting with the image of Doctor José Gregorio Hernández, made during the process of beatification of the doctor of the poor.
It should be noted that Monsignor Alberto Ortega Martín has been collaborating with what has been the beatification and canonization process of The Venerable (Dr. José Gregorio Hernández).
