Nicolás Maduro, candidate by the Great Patriotic Pole, won the presidential election this Sunday with 5,150,092 votes, which represents 51.20% of the ballots, announced Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), when presenting the first bulletin with 80% of the data transmitted that shows a strong and irreversible trend.
He detailed that Maduro obtained 5,150,092 votes, ahead of the opposition Edmundo González who obtained 4,445,978 for a 44.02% and was in second place, while the rest of the 8 candidates from the right accumulated 462,704 votes for a 4.6%.
Amoroso stated that participation reached 59% of the electoral roll, for which he expressed his “congratulations to all the people of Venezuela for their gallantry” and to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the security forces that guaranteed peace and tranquility.
“We call on all Venezuelans to respect the Constitution and the laws of the Republic and the mandate of the people expressed in the voting machines, as well as peace throughout our territory. To those who participated in the contest, the recognition of the authorities of the National Electoral Council,” he added.
In addition, the rector indicated that in the next few hours the results will be available on the CNE website, table by table, and the results will be delivered to organizations with political purposes. On the other hand, he denounced an attack against the data transmission system, which delayed the transmission of the results:
«We have immediately asked the Attorney General of the Republic to launch an investigation into the terrorist actions perpetrated against our electoral system and against the voting centers and also against electoral officials,» he added.
