The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, spoke in relation to the upcoming electoral process on July 28, highlighting the importance of peace in the country, denouncing that international media are meddling to tarnish the electoral contest:
“No one will be able to stain Venezuela’s electoral process and no one will be able to set our country wild, we will have elections, come rain, shine, or lightning and we will have peace and tranquility before, during and after July 28. I guarantee it. Our people guarantees it,” he stated.
Maduro called on the Venezuelan population, asking if they want peace, while he stated that the extreme right wing seeks violence and the return of the guarimbas (riots):
“(…) I said these days that I, Nicolás Maduro, have avoided a civil war in this country, several times. Because they have sought violence. Do you want the guarimba and violence to return? They do, and they are preparing plans to shout fraud. They are already shouting fraud from today,” he warned the people.
The head of state mentioned the conspiracy that is being hatched together with international media and agencies to damage the Venezuelan electoral process:
“They are trying to tarnish the electoral process. CNN En Español is the spearhead and the EFE agency in Spain, AFP in France, and AP in the United States, they are the same ones as always. Because they know what is going to happen, they already know it and they want to tarnish Venezuela,” he stressed.
Likewise, he made reference to the country’s electoral trajectory, highlighting that in 28 of the last 30 elections they have obtained popular victories, ratifying his confidence in the process, and assured that no one will be able to tarnish the legitimacy of the elections in Venezuela:
“We will once again have a great popular victory, a great clean, electoral victory,” he pointed out.
