Sheinbaum’s victory in Mexico represents left wing triumph in Latin America

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during his ‘Con Maduro+’ program, congratulated the newly elected president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum for her victory, and highlighted that this result marks a progressive era for Latin America and the Caribbean , while underlining that, despite the efforts of the right wing to influence the outcome of the elections through social media campaigns, the left wing achieved a resounding victory.

The candidate of the “Let’s keep making history” coalition of the Morena party obtained more than 58% of the votes, according to data provided by the National Electoral Institute (INE). In this regard, President Maduro pointed out that the Mexican opposition tried to discredit the electoral process as happened in Venezuela, when the right wing accused the CNE of fraud without foundations, in a failed attempt to sow discord and violence. This scenario, according to the Venezuelan president, did not prospered thanks to the massive support of the Mexican people towards Sheinbaum and her ideals.

In his congratulatory message, the national leader reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian nation to strengthen unity with Mexico, with the aim of advancing regional integration and shared development, while expressing his confidence that under the leadership of the left of that country, a progressive alternative will be consolidated against the right wing and neoliberalism:

“I am sure that we will continue advancing on the path of strengthening the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), a powerful political, social and economic bloc in Latin America; and on the path of the union of Mexico and Venezuela,” he stressed.

This victory not only represents a change in Mexico’s political direction, but also a strengthening of bilateral relations with Venezuela, with a view to greater cooperation and unity in the region.
