President Maduro proposes constitutional reform for life sentences for corrupt people

«Many times the traitors and honeland-selling corrupt people act in defiance of the law and I believe that the time has come for a constitutional reform to introduce the penalty of life imprisonment for corruption, a life-long disqualification for treason against the Homeland and for serious crimes against the people,” announced this Saturday the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros.

On the outskirts of Miraflores Palace, where he led the popular celebration for the 22 years of the victory of the people that rescued Commander Hugo Chávez Frías from the brief dictatorship of Pedro Carmona Estanga, after the fascist coup d’etat by the right wing in April 2002, The head of state proposed the idea on which he has been working on for a year, and asked the people for their backing and support to call for a constitutional reform:

My proposal is to introduce life imprisonment into the Constitution and for these people to rot for life in prison. Do you agree? Raise your hands... Fulfill it!“, he said symbolically, after the positive response of thousands of Venezuelans who participated in the Great March for the Day of National Dignity and the 15 years of the Bolivarian National Militia.

The president said that this proposal will be directed as a powerful response to the traitors and corrupt people, who even cause gigantic moral damage to the people: “We have to be relentless, no matter who falls, and you know you can count on me. I am not going to fail you, neither against betrayal nor against corruption.»
