The Office of the US Director of National Intelligence has issued a declassified report, called “Annual Threat Assessment”, dated February 5, 2024, confirming that the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, will once again win the elections scheduled for July 28.
“(…) Nicolás Maduro will maintain solid control of power and it is unlikely that he will lose the 2024 presidential elections (…), says the declassified report issued by US intelligence
Likewise, the US report emphasized that the current Venezuelan opposition is divided and has little influence in national politics:
“The opposition, which has often been divided, holds few
influential public positions,” the text continues.
In addition, it details that the support of China, Russia and Iran for the government of Nicolás Maduro has mitigated the impact of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela:
“The support of China, Iran and Russia helps the Maduro regime evade sanctions,” it reads.

Presidential elections in Venezuela 2024:
This past March 5, the National Electoral Council (CNE) set July 28 as the date on which the presidential elections will be held in Venezuela.
The president of the highest electoral body, Elvis Amoroso, was in charge of making the official announcement in the company of the other rectors. In this sense, he also delivered the final electoral schedule that, according to him, complies with all the technical and legal parameters.
