Venezuela rejects violence unleashed by criminal gangs in Ecuador

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, strongly rejected the violence unleashed by criminal gangs that put at risk the security and peace of the Republic of Ecuador:

I express, on behalf of Venezuela, our solidarity with the people and government of Ecuador in this fight against the scourge of organized crime,” said the head of state in a message published on his official account on X (Twitter).

He indicated that he trusts “in the prompt restoration of order and in the timely action of justice against the intellectual and material authors of these unacceptable terrorist acts.”

It is worth mentioning that President Daniel Noboa issued a decree declaring 22 criminal gangs as terrorist organizations, and the country in “internal armed conflict.”

According to local media, violence related to drug trafficking has increased in recent years in Ecuador. 2023 closed with more than 7,800 homicides and 220 tons of drugs seized, new records in the South American nation of 17 million inhabitants.
