President of AN Jorge Rodríguez highlights importance of lifting sanctions for peace

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, insisted this Thursday that the lifting of sanctions is important to consolidate peace in the country.

The statements were made during the installation of the National Conference for Dialogue, Peace and Coexistence in ratification of the Agreements in Barbados, headed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro:

We find ourselves in deep rejection and in the energetic request that all economic sanctions be lifted. We are in the search and defense of peace, in a process that leads us to resolve the obstacles through constitutional, electoral, and peaceful means,” said Rodríguez.

In the activity – broadcast on national network – Rodríguez welcomed the day, because he finds “different worldviews, even with the profound political differences there are common elements in which we come together, we find ourselves in the defense of our territory, of the heritage that is each and everyone,” he said.

Agreements to advance:

In this sense, the head of the National Government Delegation in the dialogue process highlighted the agreements reached in Barbados after an arduous negotiation process with an opposition group, which includes the Unitary Platform.

He noted that the agreements address “clear rules and solid approaches on the recognition of electoral results” of the presidential race planned for 2024.
