President announces Special Plan for Attention, Decontamination and Recovery of Lake Maracaibo

On the occasion of the Bicentennial of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo, which celebrates its 200th anniversary, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced the launch of the Special Care Plan for the Decontamination and Recovery of Lake Maracaibo, a project that will be led by the Sectoral Vice President for Public Works and Services, Néstor Reverol.

After personally receiving denounces concerning the issue of oil overflows on Lake Maracaibo and how these have affected the fishing communities, fishermen and the habitat in general, the head of state referred to the work to be done.

In addition, the Venezuelan Dignitary reported that for this task he has ordered an in-depth technical-scientific study, “which came into my hands a few days ago, and I have prepared personally with the support of scientists, technicians, the Ministers of Ecosocialism, Oil, Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Vice President of Government for Public Services, Néstor Reverol”.

He detailed that the Sectoral Vice President for Public Works and Services will be accompanied by the Minister of Oil, Pedro Tellechea; Minister of Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca; Aquaculture and Fisheries, Juan Carlos Loyo; and the president of the Venezuela Bella Mission, Jacqueline Faría:

I ask for the support of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez, and of all the mayors, men and women”, said the Venezuelan head of state.
