President Maduro proposes real solutions to the global multidimensional crisis at the UN

The aspiration of the Venezuelan people for peace in a multipolar and pluricentric world, the defense of the truth and the principles of coexistence and rationality, as well as the rejection of the mechanisms of coercion against Venezuela and other countries, were the highlights of the message sent this Saturday by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

The speech, which represents an Open Letter to Humanity and which was presented by Chancellor Carlos Faría, emphasized important issues such as the offer of our country as a mediator in the war between Russia and Ukraine, with dialogue being the mechanism for a solution and understanding between the parties:

“For my country, that of a people that has never participated in an international armed conflict, there is no other way than peace, justice, trust and respect for international law”, he emphasized.

In this sense, the head of state stated that our nation subscribes to the pacification proposal presented by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, before the UN General Assembly:

“We subscribe, therefore, to the proposal of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador who advocates the creation of an international commission to facilitate sovereign dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, and we are at the disposal to facilitate its conditions,” he explained.

The National President also stated that the Venezuelan people “rejects all the military provocations and interfering economic sanctions that have been taken against Russia, as well as the hate campaign unleashed to the detriment of the Slavic people, considering that these actions, far from adding to the peace, do fan the fires of war”.

Capitalism and world crisis:

In his message, President Maduro emphasized the responsibility of the capitalist system in the current world crisis and the role that the West has played in bringing humanity to the current state of danger.

Therefore he proposed to the powers and nations of the North to coexist with the rest of the countries and not to submit them. At this point in his message, he referred to the crisis of truth with the manipulation of the knowledge and emotions of the people, to the detriment of the credibility and trust that should rule international relations:

It is urgently needed an ethical change in the old powers in favor of the construction of a new common world, without colonized or colonizers, where we work together on the solutions that our peoples demand of us. There is no time for arrogance, there is no time for confrontations and useless skirmishes”, he stressed.

At this point in his dissertation, he highlighted the importance of a greater role for the peoples to save life on the planet and to confront the unipolar hegemonic order that seeks, with the supremacist model, to violate international law, ignoring the principle of self-determination of the peoples.

Given this, he indicated that in the world “is needed a greater protagonism of the peoples in creating alternatives to transform reality”, taking into consideration that “we were never so aware of being a single community, one and multiple at the same time, as in this situation that has put in suspense what we share and make us equal: life”.

Faced with this situation, he expressed that Venezuela “makes hope that in this assembly reason, good sense, and prudence are listened to. And the rights of the peoples of the world are recognized and respected and the injustice committed against the Saharawi people and the Palestinian people by denying them the right to have a homeland is corrected.

End to coercive measures:

The National President also referred in his message to the 77th UN General Assembly to the unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela.

He specified that these are cruel measures that can be classified as crimes against humanity that violate the rights of the Venezuelan people. He indicated that 913 illegal sanctions weigh on the country that have caused the nation losses of 150,000 million dollars, while around 10,000 million dollars in deposits in banks and funds abroad remain blocked.

These illegal measures have prevented the purchase and sale of supplies, food and medicines necessary for the population, he explained.

The head of state outlined assassination attempts and armed invasion, promotion of sedition movements and formation of a parallel and fictitious government that have received the support of the United States to try to destabilize the constitutional government.

He also mentioned the sanctions against countries such as Cuba, Nicaragua, Cuba, Russia and Iran, while calling for reparation to the Argentinean people regarding their rights to the Malvinas (called Falkland y the U.K.) Islands.

We hope that the illegal economic sanctions and political persecution against Nicaragua, against sister Cuba, Iran and Russia, will end. We hope that the Argentinean people will be repaired and their rights over the Malvinas, snatched by blood and fire by the imperial logic that we have been denouncing, are restored”, he said.

Energy emergency:

In his Open Letter to Humanity, President Maduro highlighted Venezuela’s willingness to assist the international market to mitigate the energy emergency.

As one of the main world powers in oil and gas matters, Venezuela can and wants to be useful, as a member of OPEC, in this energy emergency that has been dragging on for a decade and that profoundly affects the price and supply system, and it impacts the poorest countries and also the richest ones,” he declared.

He pointed out that the world crisis has worsened dramatically due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, affecting the food supply. “Beyond this historical position, that of guaranteeing, as an irreplaceable producer, the energy balance demanded by the international community, we are concerned with the impact of the different world conflicts on food security,” he said.
