President Maduro welcomes appointment of Jorge Rodríguez in NAM Parliamentary Network

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed the appointment of the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, as one of the vice presidents of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM):

“I congratulate the president of the AN, Dr. Jorge Rodríguez, for his important appointment as vice president of the NAM Parliamentary Network,” he specified in a message posted on Twitter.

The head of state stressed that with this appointment, Venezuela is at the forefront of the union of peoples that are moving steadily towards the consolidation of a new world, reports the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

Earlier, Rodríguez was elected as vice president of the Latin America Group in the network, whose second meeting was held this week in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The instance has a president and three vice-presidents, and they form part of the network’s bodies together with the Conference that brings together all the delegations of the member parliaments.

Likewise, it has a Bureau, a Secretariat and permanent committees on politics, economic, social and humanitarian affairs, as well as methodology.
