Pemón people sign agreement for joint administration of Canaima National Park

The Minister of People’s Power for Ecosocialism and President of the National Institute of Parks (Inparques), Josué Lorca Vega, reported that was signed the joint cooperation agreement with the “Kamarakoto” Pemón people, for the administration of the Canaima National Park, in Bolivar state:

After 20 years we have signed the Joint Cooperation agreement between the Pemón Kamarakoto people (sector 2 of the Canaima National Park) and the National Parks Institute, in which we acknowledge the ancestral authority of the Pemón people and commit ourselves to the joint administration of the space to guarantee and generate all the conditions for the development of activities in favor of the protection and preservation of the environment and in favor of perpetuating and maintaining the indigenous ancestral culture”, he wrote on his Instagram account, @josuelorca.

The high official of Ecosocialism, affirmed that the Venezuelan State will contribute together with the authorities of the National Executive to guarantee that activities that degrade this important heritage of humanity are not allowed.
