Public Ministry welcomes visit of ICC Prosecutor to Venezuela

On Monday, the Public Ministry welcomed the visit of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, ICC, Karim Khan, after an invitation made by the Venezuelan State, reported the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek Willam Saab.

Through a communiqué, published in his account on the Twitter social network, @TarekWiliamSaab, the head of the public prosecutor’s office assured that this visit of the prosecutor Khan will serve to evaluate first-hand, the good performance of the institutions in the country.

The Public Ministry welcomes the visit to Venezuela of prosecutor Karim Khan on the occasion of our formal invitation. This occasion will serve to assess first-hand the good performance of our institutions and to maintain an honest dialogue with their representatives”, reads the text.

He added that the Venezuelan state has always been open “to positive cooperation with the ICC since its ratification of the Rome Statute”.

It was known that Khan began an international tour on Monday that will last until November 3 with official visits to Venezuela and Colombia.
