Caracas, Oct. 20. AVN.- The National Assembly (AN) called a session for tomorrow, Thursday, to discuss the formation of a commission that will work on the normalization of diplomatic and commercial relations with Colombia in conjunction with a similar one created this week by the Senate of the Congress of Colombia.
In statements to the press, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, explained that the discussion of the formation of this commission responds to the proposal approved by the Senate of the Congress of Colombia unanimously, in plenary session last Tuesday, October 19 in order to create a bilateral commission between the Colombian and Venezuelan parliaments with the purpose of working on various points of mutual interest.
Deputy Rodríguez specified that the points proposed by the Colombian Senate to work together are: the normalization of diplomatic relations, the normalization of commercial relations, the need for the protection of Colombian companies on Venezuelan soil, the protection of Venezuelan companies on Colombian soil and the verification of good commercial practices between both countries.
This proposal, added Rodríguez, is based on the preamble and articles 9 and 226 of the Political Constitution of Colombia; To give effect to this proposal, the National Assembly called a session for this Thursday at 11:30 am to discuss the formation of a commission with characteristics similar to the one already approved by the Colombian Senate:
«We are ready to establish any kind of coordination necessary with the president of the Senate of the Congress of Colombia, Juan Diego Gómez, and the commission designated for this purpose, for the purposes of complying with the three elements contained in that proposition number 034 of 2021″ said Rodríguez.
