Venezuela will propose at the UN a bank of products that can be freely acquired by all countries

Venezuela will propose at the UN a bank of products that can be freely acquired by all countries. This was expressed this Friday by the Sectoral Vice President for Planning, Ricardo Menéndez, during a Seminar for the Exchange of Results of the National and Independent Dialogues within the framework of what will be the upcoming Summit on Alimentary Systems-2021 to be held in New York City, United States.

The also Minister for Planning explained that the idea is “to make it transparent and avoid the blackmails that happen by some powers and by the market in terms of access by our countries to products and goods”, said Menéndez.

For his part, the Minister of People’s Power for Food, Carlos Leal Tellería, indicated that these proposals are born from the exchange of experiences between the Bolivarian Government and all sectors that participate in the country’s food system: “Many important experiences have emerged on how to advance and maintain food security in our country, which is currently subjected to a criminal blockade and international siege”, concluded Tellería.

Likewise, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Alexis Bonte, described as “very interesting” the national and independent dialogues that have been held in the country and which will allow, after the Summit, to generate the action plan for the transformation of food systems.

It should be noted that at this work journey also participated the Ministers for Foreign Relations, Félix Plasencia; Urban Agriculture, Greicys Barrios; for Fishing and Aquaculture, Juan Laya; as well as the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla.
