Venezuela received the first doses of vaccines from the COVAX mechanism

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela received this Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the first doses of vaccines from the COVAX mechanism, previously paid.

This was reported by the vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, who publicly thanked the director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who helped resolve the critical issues for the arrival of vaccines to the country.

The senior official wrote in her Twitter account @delcyrodriguezv: “Along with the Pan American Health Organization we presented proposals for the fulfillment of the COVAX commitment, today we received the first doses of the almost 12 million that have been paid to this mechanism”.

On his behalf, the director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed his gratitude to Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, for the constructive discussion on Venezuela’s continued need for vaccines against Covid-19.

Dr. Tedros expressed his joy because Venezuela received the doses of COVAX, and stated that soon more vaccines will arrive to immunize the people: “The World Health Organization is committed to continuing to support Venezuela,” he wrote on his Twitter account @DrTedros.

In Venezuela, the Bolivarian Government is advancing with the mass immunization plan for the well-being of all the people.
