Minister El Aissami highlights need for energy transition in the world

The Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum, and Sectoral Vice President of the Economic Area, Tareck El Aissami, participated this Thursday through a videoconference in the 24th International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where he spoke about the energy transition and the need for let the whole world debate this issue:

We consider that the sum of the diversity of visions should be materialized in an integral policy that generates a collective impact, of collective well-being, seeing humanity as a common destiny. This debate must transcend the agendas of governments, countries, corporations, and families, humanity must be placed at the center for the construction of an energy transition, which compromises energy security within the framework of development of the collective”, expressed El Aissami.

He added during his participation in the Forum that “today hundreds of families do not enjoy traditional energy sources, in 2070, in the agendas of future times we must broaden the horizon so that all humanity has secure sources of energy”.

Likewise, El Aissami stressed that with a concerted policy, an open debate and with the participation of all humanity, ways will be found that contribute to the solution and reduce the impact on planet earth.

The opening session of the Forum, which takes place from June 2 to 5, was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexander Novak, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs of the State of Qatar, Saad Al-Sherida Kaabi, and the General Secretary and Executive Director of the World Energy Council (WEC), Angela Wilkinson.
