Venezuela reaches record number of seeds for corn planting

With the sum of 1,080,000 bags of seeds, the product of an alliance between public and private companies, Venezuela reached a record number for the planting of corn so far in 2021.

The announcement was made by the Minister of People’s Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, who stressed that this amount is equivalent to “one bag per hectare, that is, we have 1,080,000 hectares of corn.”

In this regard, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that one of the premises for this year will be “to break the record of productive hectares for the people’s food.”

Maturín, power in soybeans and beans:

Monagas Governorate

From the “El Estrecho” farm, located in the Maturín municipality, the governor of the Monagas state, Yelitze Santaella, reported that they plan to plant a thousand hectares of soybeans with local seeds for the 2021 Winter Cycle.

The Cooperative Association “Las Flores del Palmar” is currently in the production process with the planting of 1,160 hectares, of which 230 are soybeans and 265 beans, said Santaella, who stressed that progressively “we are going to try with beans.”

Meanwhile, the governor of Monagas state pointed out that this week certificates were awarded to two farms of the entity that validate them as territories free of brucellosis, an infectious disease that attacks mammalian species.

Vegetable harvest in Guárico:

Regarding the start of planting and harvesting vegetables, the North-Summer 2020-2021 cycle, the governor of Guárico state, José Manuel Vásquez, stressed that they are close to reaching 1,500 hectares of onions and about 1,200 hectares of tomatoes in the Julián Mellado municipality.

In this sense, the mayor of Julián Mellado, César Gómez, specified that “in these two areas we aspire to harvest more than 30 million kilos that will allow us to distribute it in the CLAP modules.”
