President Maduro: We do not accept military, paramilitary or guerrilla groups in Venezuelan territory

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured this Tuesday that any armed group from Colombia that tries to transit within the national territory will be captured and the full weight of the law will be applied: “We do not accept military, paramilitary or guerrilla groups”.

During a press conference offered to national and international media at Miraflores Palace, the Head of State expressed that the presence of these groups in the national border territory is not allowed, because «it is a constitutional principle, we have a sovereignty to respect.» .

He denounced that there has always been a campaign against Venezuela to accuse the presence of guerrillas in the nation, «but we have never allowed that.»

He also recalled that the Colombian oligarchy has tried to make Venezuela take an interventionist position in its internal conflicts: «We can help in peace in Colombia, but do not ask us to get involved in your conflict.»

The National President added that the arms and uniforms of the Republic can only be used by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), in accordance with the Constitution, and ratified that they will continue to protect the border with Colombia from any irregularity.
