President Maduro: Maradona was loyal to the revolutionary cause of Venezuela

Soccer star Diego Armando Maradona was loyal to the revolutionary cause of Venezuela, as highlighted on Wednesday the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro:

“Maradona, sensitive, loving, with a rebellious spirit against the oppressors,” said the president during an address.

Bravely loyal to our cause and revolution; not everyone can put up with that, because he was a world celebrity”, added the head of state.

He indicated that the Government had the support of Maradona on several occasions, in the context of the blockade against the country.

“It helped us to bring various items (…), I can say that today,” he said; He denounced that several “powerful ones” tried to bend his sympathy with Venezuela.

However, the footballer was consistent with his ideal. “Thank you Diego, wherever you are, from our heart as a brother,” reiterated Maduro.

Maradona died this Wednesday after suffering a cardio-respiratory arrest at his home, located in the locality of Tigre, in Buenos Aires.

He was one of the most recognized footballers in history and admired by a wide young and contemporary public.

He stood out for his ideological sympathy with commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro, whom he called his second father.
