CNE, United Nations, PAHO and WHO meet around the Strategic Biosafety Plan for DEC-6

This Wednesday a meeting was held between authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE), and representatives of the United Nations System, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) as well as the World Health Organization (WHO), in the Strategic Operations Center of the Electoral Power (COE), in order to deepen details about the Strategic Biosafety Plan implemented by the electoral body for the parliamentary elections to be held on December 6.

This work journey was led by Indira Alfonzo, current president of the CNE, accompanied by the vice president of the electoral body, Leonardo Morales and rector Tania D’Amelio, who welcomed the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza Montserrat; Dr. Marisela Bermúdez, Vice Minister of Collective Health Networks of the Ministry of People’s Power for Health; His Excellency Mr. Peter Grohmann, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations System, and His Excellency Mr. Pier Paolo Balladelli, Representative of the Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

During the meeting, the highest authority of the Electoral Power made a presentation on the protocols that comprise the Biosafety Strategy to be implemented within the framework of the 2020 National Assembly Elections to prevent Covid-19.

In this regard, the authorities present learned about the operation of the electoral horseshoe through a simulation, verifying the various biosafety elements that will mark the act of voting to protect the life and health of the Venezuelan people at the time of expressing themselves through the vote.

To end the meeting, was held a tour of the Itinerant Electoral Museum located in the COE facilities, in which was shown the evolution of our Automated Voting System to the new voting machine that will be used for the upcoming electoral process.
