Venezuela faces Covid-19 with support from PAHO, Ministry of Health and AN

The Ministry of People’s Power for Health (MPPS) and the advisory team of the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela, as well as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) work actively in response to the pandemic, including the search for financial resources that contribute to strengthening the country’s capacity to care for the population.

In this regard, PAHO welcomes the most recent announcements related to the transfer of $10 million that will allow continued progress in the response to Covid-19, particularly in critical actions such as the protection of health personnel, the implementation of measures to reduce transmission and strengthen care in the most affected states.

These and other funds that are mobilized will be implemented by PAHO, in close collaboration with both parties, along the priority lines established in the agreement, including: detection of active Covid-19 cases through laboratory diagnosis; timely and appropriate treatment of confirmed cases.

Also with the supervised isolation of symptomatic cases and quarantine of contacts; protection of health personnel; implementing infection prevention and control actions in health facilities; epidemiological surveillance, information analysis and situation reports; and risk communication for the adoption of measures by the population.

As PAHO Director Carissa Etienne has mentioned in various scenarios, solidarity is essential to face the Covid-19 pandemic in the Americas region.

PAHO welcomes the collaboration of all sectors of society, which must be involved and work together and committedly, in pursuit of the common goal of saving lives.

This is stated in a newsletter of the Pan American Health Organization.
