Venezuela registers 198 new COVID–19 cases in the last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, were registered in the country 198 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, with which Venezuela reaches the amount of 4,563 infected, due to this disease.

On behalf of the Presidential Commission for Attention to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), from Miraflores Palace, in Caracas city, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, offered this balance.

Of the new 198 cases, 133 correspond to community contagion cases -84 in Zulia state, 12 in Miranda, 9 in Lara, 6 in Carabobo, 5 in Bolívar, 4 in the Capital District, 4 in Sucre, 4 in Falcón, 2 in Anzoátegui, 2 in Mérida and 1 in Trujillo states-, while 65 have to do with imported cases, as she explained.

Rodríguez emphasized that of the 65 cases, imported or from contact with international travelers, 59 are coming from Colombia (they entered through Táchira, Apure, Zulia states); 2 from Brazil (through Bolívar state); 1 from Peru (through Táchira state); 1 from Ecuador (Táchira); and two due to contacts with an international traveler (Apure and Bolívar states).

“The irresponsible passing through informal trails from Colombia to Venezuela, without any kind of sanitary control, is impacting both the families as the community”, denounced the Vice President.

Venezuela unfortunately adds a new deceased patient, a 67-year-old woman from Zulia state, to reach the figure of 39, as reported Rodríguez.

She stressed that the national government continues to massively carry out diagnostic tests: “Venezuela continues to carry out massive tests throughout the national territory, in public and private institutions. As of today we have applied 1,176,146 tests, which represents 39,205 tests per million inhabitants”, she stressed.
