Bank of Spain transferred Venezuelan resources to PAHO for the attention of Covid-19

The Bank of Spain transferred this Thursday to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) resources from Venezuela that were being held by the European nation; to strengthen the attention of the Venezuelan people facing the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The information was released by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza; who indicated that this transaction responds to a mechanism applied by the Central Bank of Venezuela.

«We salute that the effective mechanism between the Central Bank of Venezuela, the Bank of Spain and the good will of @opsoms (PAHO), under the coordination of both Chancellories, has managed to guarantee the assets of al Venezuelan men and women for the integral attention of Covid-19”, wrote the Venezuelan Chancellor in his account on the Twitter social network.

The publication was accompanied by the announcement made by the Government of Spain, which, in addition, celebrates the agreement reached between the National Government with sectors of the so-called G-4 group to combat the pandemic.

«We salute the agreement for the management of humanitarian aid to combat Covid-19. Spain has transferred frozen Venezuelan resources in our country to @opsoms to help alleviate the effects of the pandemic in Venezuela», wrote the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, Arancha González Laya.

Last Tuesday, the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that in this agreement – signed last Monday by the Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado, and the adviser on health issues of the National Assembly (AN), Julio Castro – were evaluated the actions to be taken and the search for financial resources to combat the coronavirus.

«In order to strengthen the response to Covid-19, both parties propose to work in coordination, with the support of the Pan American Health Organization, in the search for financial resources that contribute to strengthening the country’s capacities and responses to address the health emergency caused by the pandemic”, refers to the text signed by the parties.
