45 tonnes of supplies by the Red Cross arrived in the country

A total of 45 tons of medical supplies from the International Red Cross arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday, to attend the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), said the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodriguez.

“Forty-five tons of supplies from the humanitarian aid already agreed upon by the Bolivarian Government with the International Red Cross to collaborate in the process of dealing with the pandemic have arrived in the country. We are grateful to the International Red Cross and the international organizations destined to help the countries and populations”, said Rodríguez in statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

From the Presidential Command Post at Miraflores Palace in Caracas, the Minister also thanked the multilateral organizations that are working and collaborating with the National Government to stop and contain the pandemic.

Since the detection of the first Covid-19 cases – last March – the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has maintained contact with all international agencies to request support and humanitarian cooperation to attend all patients infected by the outbreak.

Medical supplies and technical assistance have arrived in the country from China, Russia and Cuba, as well as from international organizations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
