The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, thanked on Wednesday the collaboration of the People’s Republic of China to face the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country.
“I want to thank Chinese President Xi Jinping for all the support he has given to our homeland, and we know that the friendship of China and Venezuela is a fruitful one, based on historical values”, said the Venezuelan head of state during a meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19, installed in Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.
He stressed that Venezuela has been the first country in Latin America to which China sent a delegation of experts to deal with the pandemic.
“China is supporting more than 120 countries with technical material and aid. Venezuela has been the first country to which China has sent medical experts. They arrived a week ago, they have shared the heat of Venezuela, and they have transmitted their scientific knowledge to us”, said the Venezuelan president.
Likewise, President Maduro detailed that this commission of experts toured institutes, hospitals, Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers, private clinics and communities to observe how the situation of Covid-19 was being addressed.
In this sense, the Chinese ambassador to Venezuela, Li Baorong, asserted that these actions are part of the call made by President Xi Jinping for unity and cooperation between countries to face the pandemic.
