Strategies defined for the 2019 – 2025 National Risk Management Plan

The strategic lines of the 2019 – 2025 National Risk Management Plan were debated this Thursday by the teams of the Vice Ministry for Civil Protection and Risk Management, and that of Communes and Social Movements, together with representatives of organizations from both instances of 18 states.
The day was led by Randy Rodríguez, head of Civil Protection, and José López, from Communes, who together guided actions of the six-year Risk Management Plan through videoconferencing and announced the activation of a training program.
During the activity, Rodríguez said that the Community Facilitators Training Program for the prevention and response to emergencies and disasters will be launched immediately, according to the press release from Civil Protection:
“In this way the Communes join the team to save lives, promoting the execution of actions aimed at preventing and reducing risks, improving the response capacity preparing the population for these events”, he said.
He explained that it is a three-day training course aimed at risk management committees, the militia and the National People’s Guard, to serve as facilitators, preparing them to respond to seismic events.
Rodríguez said that by the end of this 2019 it is estimated to train 21,600 facilitators, so that they acquire the necessary tools for self-protection, to develop evacuation plans and a first aid module, while pre-hospitalary help arrives, as well as care to people with disabilities in these situations.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening the participation of the population in three fundamental areas: educational, labor and community, for the development of a preventive culture and thus minimize the risks and reduce the number of deaths before an anthropic event, or one of a natural origin.
