Maduro: We are supporting the productive policies of the pharmaceutical sector throughout the country


The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called on Wednesday to invest for the recovery of the pharmaceutical industry’s production.
“We are supporting the productive policies of the pharmaceutical sector throughout the country”, remarked the Head of State. “We are in a recovered company in Zulia state (…), which we are going to turn into a production leader, it is the SM PHARMA C.A. Medicines Plant, this is an empowered company”.
“We are going to work so that in the month of July this company is on a 100% production (…), we are going towards the recovery of all the pharmaceutical capacity in the country”, he emphasized.
Omar Prieto, governor of Zulia state, stressed that “with 50% production of this plant we can cover half of the demand for various medicines throughout the country”.
On the other hand, President Maduro stressed that “(Mission) Barrio Adentro is the largest humanitarian operation known in the world due to the number of people it has attended and are being served”. The information was provided from Zulia state. where earlier the Head of State supervised military exercises of the FANB.
SM Farma foresees the distribution and manufacture of more than 17 million units of medicines per year for different pathologies, among which are antibiotics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, anti-flu, cardiac, among others.
