Darío Vivas will preside commission to study realization of the parliamentary elections

Socialist leader Darío Vivas will preside the mixed commission of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), in charge of studying the realization of the parliamentary elections, as informed on Tuesday the president of the plenipotentiary body, Diosdado Cabello.
“A constitutional commission is appointed for the consultation (…) on the parliamentary elections, this (must be) fast, it has to be very fast too. The only power that is established in this Constitution that has not been re-legitimated by this ANC is the Legislative Power”, said Cabello during the session from the Legislative Palace in Caracas.
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Cabello said that the consultation should be carried out “as soon as possible.” This commission will be integrated, in addition, by the vice-president of the other commissions of the ANC.
Last Saturday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, supported ANC’s proposal to call for parliamentary elections this year and thus solve the situation that exists within the Legislative Power, which has been in contempt since 2016:
“The National Constituent Assembly has in its agenda the evaluation to call an advance of parliamentary elections this year. I agree that the Legislative Power of the country should be re-legitimized, and that the people should decide”, said the Head of State from the Bolivar Avenue in Caracas.
On January 21, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared null and void the directive of the National Assembly, sworn on January 5 this year.
In this regard, the Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ emphasized that the National Assembly does not have a valid Board of Directors, incurring “the unlawful directive” elected on January 5, 2019 (as well as those “designated” unconstitutionally during the years 2017 and 2018), in usurpation of authority, for which all their acts are null, in accordance with the provisions of Article 138 of the Constitution.
