The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected, through a communiqué, the decision adopted by Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland and Great Britain, countries of the European Union, to bend to the warmongering policy of the United States.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection of the decision adopted by some governments of Europe, in which they officially embrace the strategy of the US administration to overthrow the legitimate Government of President Nicolás Maduro that the Venezuelan people elected in a sovereign, free and democratic manner.
The sovereignty of the Venezuelan people is not subject to any kind of recognition by any foreign authority, much less after 200 years of breaking the colonial chains, thanks to the independence campaign led by the Liberator Simón Bolívar.
The degree of subordination of these governments to the warmongering policy led by the current United States Government against Venezuela, which in turn undermines the peace and stability of the entire region, is alarming. Likewise, we denounce that this decision is openly violating the principles and practices that govern diplomatic relations, setting a dangerous precedent for peaceful coexistence among nations.
We warn that these governments are taking sides with the most extreme fraction of the Venezuelan right wing, acting under the direction of Washington, desperately seeking to take control of the political power that has been denied by the sovereign decision of the majority of the Venezuelan people, who expressed his clear democratic will in the presidential elections of May 20, 2018.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will comprehensively review the bilateral relations with these governments from this moment, until a rectification occurs that discards its support for the coup plans and redirects them towards strict respect for international law.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela urges European governments to walk the path of moderation and balance, so that they are able to contribute constructively to a political, peaceful and dialogued path that allows to address the differences between the Venezuelan political forces.
