The Bolivarian National Armed Forces neutralized in the dawn hours of this Monday a group of assailants, assigned to the zone command number 43 of the Bolivarian National Guard, who stole a batch of weapons from the detachment of urban security located in Petare, Sucre municipality.
Following, the communiqué by the FANB:
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, informs the people of Venezuela, that in the early hours of January 21, 2019, at approximately 02:50 am, a small group of assailants assigned to the Zone command number 43 of the Bolivarian National Guard, betraying their oath of allegiance to the Homeland and its institutions, submitted Captain Gerson Soto Martínez, commander of the Macarao police coordination post, from where they departed in two (02) military vehicles; then they stormed the headquarters of the urban security detachment located in Petare, Sucre municipality, subtracting a batch of war weapons and kidnapping two (02) officers and two (02) national guards of the aforementioned detachment, under threat of death.
The criminals were surrendered and captured at the headquarters of the Waraira Repano Special Security Unit, in Cotiza, Libertador Municipality, also attached to the Bolivarian National Guard; where they had gone, finding a firm resistance on the part of the officers and professional troops stationed there. It should be noted that during the arrest, the stolen weapons were recovered and, at present, they are providing information of interest to the intelligence agencies and the military justice system. these subjects will be subject to the full weight of the law.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces categorically rejects this kind of acts, which are surely motivated by the dark interests of the extreme right wing and are contrary to the elementary norms of military discipline, to the honor and to the traditions of our institution. In this sense, it ratifies before the community, that all its operative units, administrative dependencies and educational institutes, are functioning under complete and absolute normality. likewise we ratify our unrestricted attachment to the constitution and the laws of the republic.
