«Any act that certifies and enforces the letter of the Constitution adds to the set of institutional and political forces of peace for our Homeland.»
The statement was made this Thursday, January 10, by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during his speech after being sworn in for his second presidential term 2019-2025, which was held before the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), in Caracas.
«Here I am, we have complied. From today I assume the presidency of the Republic for the second term, by order of the people (…) I am standing to democratically take the reins of our Homeland towards a better destiny», said the President.
In his speech, the head of state stressed that the swearing in before the Supreme Court is carried out constitutionally and peacefully for the protection of the country, before the systematic manipulation campaign facing the Bolivarian Revolution and the national government.
«It is clear, public, notorious and well-known that the North American imperialism and its satellite governments intend to convert a formal, protocolar, legal, constitutional and peaceful takeover into a world war against Venezuela».
The head of state reaffirmed the call of the Bolivarian Revolution to the peoples of the world to take up the banners in defense of freedom and independence in the face of the pretensions of the imperialist and hegemonic powers to impose imperialist ideology.
«This is what the Venezuelan people have done and we are proud because we have decided to be free, rebellious, independent and anti-imperialist at whatever cost», he said.
During the protocolary ceremony, President Maduro welcomed the high delegations of 94 countries and various international organizations that accompanied him during the investiture, among whom were the presidents of Bolivia, Evo Morales, of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega and of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel.
He also welcomed the presence of the president of the plenipotentiary National Constituent Assembly, Diosdado Cabello; Magistrate Maikel Moreno, president of the Supreme Court of Justice; the president of the Republican Moral Council, Tarek William Saab and the President of the National Electoral Council, Tibisay Lucena, among others.
