US denies visas to Venezuelan diplomats to attend the OAS

The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reported on Tuesday night that “Have been denied again the visas to attend international events.”
She noted that such a measure by the US Government violates and undermines the public international law, and violates the Vienna Convention for diplomatic relations.
“We have applied for visas for the officials that will accompany me to an event at the Organization of American States, and these have been denied to officials of my team and senior officials of the Venezuelan Government,” she said in telephone contact with Venezolana de Television.
The Chancellor also said that this is not the first time it happens, because the US Government has put all kinds of obstacles to avoid granting visas.
“The United States (…) can not refuse to grant the visas, it is obliged to facilitate all efforts aimed at giving us visas so that we can attend events scheduled there.”
In that regard, she announced that the Venezuelan Government will issue a protest note and will make denounces to international organizations; also added that the charge d’affaires in Venezuela by the United States, in an disrespectful and arrogant manner, offended a senior director of the Chancellery.
Rodriguez reported that the Head of State has appointed as Vice Chancellor for North America to Professor Bernardo Alvarez, who was instructed to present the note of protest.
