Venezuela and Algeria review joint agricultural cooperation projects

In a work meeting held this Tuesday in Caracas, the Minister of People’s Power for Productive Agriculture and Land, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, and the ambassador of the African country, Gaouthi Benmoussat, evaluated experiences of both countries in the sector.

In the activity, the representatives of both governments defined the issues that will be addressed in the High Level Joint Commission between both nations:

“It will address seven major areas and issues of cooperation, where progress has been made through the different technical teams, in order to finalize the agreements that will soon be confirmed and ratified with the Algerian government and people”, said Castro Soteldo.

The meeting was conducive to show the experience of Venezuela in the development of in vitro potato seeds: “which can be an extraordinary opportunity for Algeria to multiply its potato production”, said the Venezuelan official on his Twitter account @wcastroPSUV.

“Agricultural cooperation is a new sector for us, we are in full expansion, it is a topic of interest,” said Ambassador Benmoussat.

“Another of the elements we address is the promotion of goat and sheep farming, and in cattle we have the Carora and Criollo Limonero breeds, which are resistant to warm climates, that can easily adapt to the Algerian climate”, said Castro Soteldo.

The minister announced that by next Monday will agree on the dates to carry out the relevant technical visits in order to advance these agreements.
