The General Secretary of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, condemned on Monday the violent actions registered this weekend in Venezuela, after the denunciation of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who denounced an assassination attempt against himself.

“The secretary general is concerned about the latest developments in Venezuela and rejects any act of violence”, said the spokesman of the organization, Farhan Haq, as quoted international media.

In this regard, he reiterated his call to all political actors to seek mechanisms that allow for a national dialogue to resolve the country’s problems.

Last Saturday, the Head of State denounced that the Venezuelan opposition and the extreme right wing from Miami and Colombia, including outgoing President Juan Manuel Santos, are involved in the assassination attempt that occurred on Saturday.

“It is an attempt to kill me. They have tried to assassinate me today and I have no doubt that everything points to the Venezuelan ultra right wing, in alliance with the Colombian far right wing, and the name of Juan Manuel Santos is behind this attack, I have no doubt about it”, he said that same day in statements from Miraflores Palace.

Although he announced advances in the investigations, he indicated that the first indications of the investigation point to Bogota and financiers who reside in Florida, United States.

Earlier, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, informed that the material authors and immediate collaborators of the assassination attempt against the National Head of State have been identified.

Similarly, he announced that the site where they stayed in the days prior to the attack has been determined, as well as were established the explosives that armed the artifacts and their international connections.
