Maduro: The people have their hope and rebelliousness more alive than ever

“Against the multiform aggression that the country is experiencing, the Venezuelan people has its hope and rebellion more alive than ever”, said the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the central ceremony for the 207 years of the Declaration of National Independence:

“I call on the civic-military union for the great battle of the months to come”. He also recalled that “imperialism sought to lead Venezuela to a civil war with the guarimba (riots), and we have achieved peace.”

“Thanks to Commander Hugo Chávez, our generation has had to celebrate July 5 with a free and sovereign Homeland. (…) “Today we are on our feet, with the Homeland more alive than ever. Long live July 5, long live the Bolivarian National Armed Forces!”, emphasized President Maduro.

Finally he indicated: “Today is a day of commitment, of the oath of the heart. Just as we managed to defeat the attempt of a civil war a year ago, we are going to defeat and to submit with the Law those who direct the criminal war against the people”.
