Delcy Rodríguez: Venezuela maintains its position in defense of Guayana Esequiba

The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed on Monday that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela maintains its position “in defense of our legitimate rights over Guayana Esequiba”; statement that is generated in response to the unilateral demand presented by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana against Venezuela.

The statement comes after the meeting held by Rodriguez, in the company of the Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza Montserrat, with the President of the International Court of Justice, Mr. Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, on Monday.

At the meeting, the Venezuelan delegation, through a letter from the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his decision not to participate in the procedure promoted by Guyana.

Rodríguez, in his Twitter account, reiterated the invitation to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to resume negotiations with the intention of seeking a friendly and satisfactory solution within the framework of the 1966 Geneva Agreement.
