14,000 voting centers will be available in the elections of May 20

About 14,000 voting centers will be available throughout the national territory for the upcoming electoral process of May 20, on which will be elected the President of the Republic and the members of legislative, state and municipal councils, as reported this Monday the Vice President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Sandra Oblitas.

The rector of the Electoral Power highlighted that in Venezuela there has been guaranteeing the right to vote; for this the CNE has worked to democratize the vote. “We come from having about 8,000 voting centers in Venezuela and we are now in the order of 14,000 voting centers nationwide”, she explained during her participation in the “Con Amorin” (With Amorin) TV program, broadcast on VTV.

He added that the number of polling stations in the country also increased, from about 20,000 to nearly 40,000: “which means de-concentration, easy access and the possibility of exercising the vote.”

In this regard, Oblitas reported that in previous years, the geographical location of the voting centers prevented the most vulnerable sectors from exercising the sovereign right to vote in an electoral process.

“Before, the voting centers were in the main avenues, in urban places, in the most affluent places of society and precisely, for the most needy population that had traditionally been invisible, it was difficult for them to access the exercise of the vote and that process that on which we came working allows the right to vote”, she said.

The rector stressed that these advances demonstrate to the world the trust that exists in the Venezuelan electoral system and the “vote as a conviction, aspects that consolidate the possibility of exercising the right to vote.”
