Foreign pressure curbs opposition to sign coexistence agreement

The Bolivarian Government signed the final agreement of the dialogue with the opposition, fulfilling the word of the patriotic delegation, as informed the head of this team, Jorge Rodríguez.

He denounced that external agents from the United States have pressured the opposition delegation during the last hours not to sign the final peace and coexistence agreement, causing it to be extended initially for 10 hours plus the completion of the process, information released by the Dominican president, Danilo Medina.

“The Secretary of State is in Bogotá to announce interventionist actions, that will go down in history as an act of deep embarrassment (…) they have asked for a few hours, we have to remember that it is President Nicolás Maduro who has called the most times for dialogue, even in the most adverse moments, even in times when they left the constitutional path, more than 400 times.

The head of the delegation on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, reported that the points contained in the final document written by the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, the foreign minister of that nation, Miguel Vargas and the former President of the Government of Spain José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

He announced that the Bolivarian delegation requested the addition of 2 points on the agreement between both delegations where they recognize the legitimate rights to fight for the Essequibo territory framed in the Geneva agreement, as well as a point on the recognition of the results of the presidential elections by the National Electoral Council, regardless who results as the winner or the loser.

Rodriguez expressed his hope that the Dominican President and his Chancellor Miguel Vargas will be able to overcome the waiting period caused by international pressure to reach a final agreement between the parties. At the same time he assured that the Venezuelan people will decide their future in the presidential elections scheduled for the first quarter of the current year through the vote, being the 25th election in 19 years of Revolution.

“We are going to presidential elections, we are going with the people to look for the votes, to register the candidates and the candidates. We hope that Danilo Medina, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas manage to overcome the obstacle. If so, we have precise instruction that we will always be at the dialogue table working for peace (…) the truth always gets to be known. Here is the agreement, at the appropriate time we will show the Venezuelan community the agreements that had been made and the points of the final agreement”, he said.
