The Vice President for Information, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, described as fruitful the presence of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, at the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where he carried the voice of peace and solidarity with the people of Palestine.
He informed that the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, as pro-tempore president of NAM, reiterated the support of this multilateral organization with the struggle of the Palestinian people.
During the meeting the participants recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, in response to the aggression of US President Donald Trump, announcing that his country recognized this city as the capital of Israel.
Rodríguez recalled that our country, since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, has been in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“The entire world recognizes the character of permanent solidarity in defense of the independence and sovereignty that Venezuela has, and that President Nicolás Maduro has defended in a powerful way,” said the Venezuelan official.
He said that the Venezuelan leader, during his visit to Turkey, has held several bilateral meetings with Heads of State and Government of countries present at the meeting.
He added that the Venezuelan President received congratulations and recognition for the electoral victory of December 10.
