Through an Official Communiqué, the Bolivarian Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its rejection of the actions of the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, after receiving the fugitive from Venezuelan justice, Antonio Ledezma, prosecuted for the crimes of conspiracy and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Following, the full Communiqué:

The Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its rejection of the actions of the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, who has received today in his office the fugitive from Venezuelan justice Antonio Ledezma, who since 2015 was under house arrest, prosecuted for the crimes of conspiracy and conspiracy to commit crime, envisaged and sanctioned in the Criminal Code and in the Organic Law against Organized Crime and Terrorist Financing.

The support the Spanish Government grants to Mr. Ledezma is nothing more than the continuation of a long list of aggressions and interference that are committed against the Bolivarian People and Government and becomes an unfriendly act against the democratic institutions of Venezuela. President Rajoy insists, in violation of all the principles of International Law, in giving protection and sustained support to an extremist group of the Venezuelan violent opposition, who have violated all the democratic principles and have promoted the destabilization of the legitimate Government of our country.

Likewise, we denounce, before the International Community, that this action is part of the strategy of minority groups of the extreme right wing, to sabotage the efforts and advances in the political dialogue in Venezuela, which has been carried out by President Nicolás Maduro Moros. We urge the Spanish Government to refrain from promoting such actions that seek to undermine the peace of all Venezuelans.
