Washington ordered the opposition not to participate in elections

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Monday that the opposition (right wing) political parties Voluntad Popular, Acción Democrática and Primero Justicia, have received orders from Washington not to participate in the municipal elections scheduled for December this year.

During a work journey held with the Federal Council of Government, from Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, the National Leader regretted the position of the political opposition in the country, which once again choose to withdraw from the electoral path and attack again the National Electoral Council.

“They say that they leave these elections because they are preparing for the Presidential elections. Do you mean that the electoral system, the CNE (National Electoral Council) and the electoral machines are good for the Presidential elections, but not for those for the Mayoralties? What is the inconsistency? Where do the plans come from? Where does such improvisation come from?” He said.

In that sense, he reiterated the need for Venezuela to have a democratic and respectful opposition to the Constitution and laws, which “makes dialogue for the great interests of the country”.

“We need an opposition that breaks their moorings with Washington, Madrid, Bogota and Miami, and that thinks with their own heads, that walks with its own foot. Hopefully sooner rather than later we will have a new, renewed, democratic opposition, in order to be able to dialogue, work and understand each other in the broad democratic model. That is our aspiration, and before which we will insist”, he emphasized.

He stressed that with this decision the Venezuelan opposition has chosen the path of “self-destruction, self-annulment, self-disappearance”.
