Recognition delivered to American activists defending Venezuela

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, gave recognition to the American activists of the Collective of Protection of the Embassy of Venezuela in Washington, for the custody they made to the diplomatic headquarters during the illegal seizure by sectors of the opposition last May:
“We are here in a spirit of peace and democracy, to show the world the effects of the blockade on the people of Venezuela, but also the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution. Our fight is your fight”, said activist Max Blumenthal from Grayzone, from Miraflores Palace.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said that the Head of State has made a long intervention trying to go beyond the recognition of the facts, to articulate actions, “to articulate our ideas, our ideologies for the construction of a better world” .
“These women, these men gave a battle for peace, a battle for Venezuela, in the end it was a battle for peace, for respect for international law, for equality between states and among peoples”, he said.
The North American collective, while defending the diplomatic house was the victim of physical and verbal aggressions by those who attempted to assault the site. In addition, the police broke into the embassy, violating international agreements, and evicted the Americans from the building, however the group remained in the vicinity of the place in defense of the rights of Venezuela.
The National Government denounced what happened and asked the US political administration to respect agreements and international law on diplomatic relations, such as the Vienna Convention.
